How to use the bubble letter generator
- Type your text in the box above. Every bubble and square style updates as you type.
- Tap a style card to copy it. You will see "Copied ✓".
- Paste it into your app. Tap ☆ to keep a favourite style at the top.
- Need one letter or number? Tap it in the bubble alphabet chart below.
Bubble letters copy and paste like any other text, so there is nothing to install. If you are making a name for one app, choose it in the platform menu to see a character counter and hide styles that may not show there.
Online bubble letters vs drawn bubble letters
"Bubble letters" can mean two different things, so let's be clear about what this page makes.
- Drawn bubble letters are the fat, puffy outlines people draw on posters, birthday banners and notebooks. This tool does not draw those.
- Online bubble letters are text characters: each letter sits inside a circle. You can paste them anywhere you type, from an Instagram bio to a WhatsApp group.
For a poster, you can paste bubble text into a document and make it large, but it will look like letters in circles, not puffy drawings. For that hand-drawn style, a design app with a bubble-style font file works better.
Where circle letters come from
These are Unicode characters, not a font. Each style comes from a different part of Unicode, and that explains its limits:
- White bubbles, Ⓑⓤⓑⓑⓛⓔ, come from the Enclosed Alphanumerics block, made for labels and numbered lists. They include capitals, small letters and digits, and they have been around a long time, so most devices show them.
- Black bubbles, 🅑🅤🅑🅑🅛🅔, come from a newer supplement block. Unicode only has capital letters here, so lowercase becomes uppercase.
- Square text, 🅂🅀🅄🄰🅁🄴 and 🆂🆀🆄🅰🆁🅴, is capitals only as well. A few black squared letters (A, B, O and P) double as emoji, so some phones show them as coloured emoji tiles.
- Parenthesized letters, ⒣⒠⒧⒧⒪, are lowercase only. They are a lighter, playful cousin of bubbles.
Bubble text examples
| You type | Result | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Bubble Text | Ⓑⓤⓑⓑⓛⓔ Ⓣⓔⓧⓣ | Cute names and bios |
| hello | 🅗🅔🅛🅛🅞 | Bold headers (note the switch to capitals) |
| Mia | ♡ Ⓜⓘⓐ ♡ | Soft, sweet profile names |
| cutie | ✧・゚: * ⓒⓤⓣⓘⓔ * :・゚✧ | Captions and comments |
| NEW | 🅽🅴🆆 | "New" tags in posts and shop listings |
| BOX | 🄱🄾🅇 | Highlight covers and labels |
| 1 2 3 | ① ② ③ | Numbered steps in captions |
Numbers in circles
White bubbles include circled digits from 0 to 9, which makes them handy as list markers. A caption like "① Wake up early, ② Drink water, ③ Go for a walk" is easier to scan than plain numbers. For a two-digit number, check the preview to make sure it reads clearly. Black bubbles and squares are letter-focused, so check the preview before relying on them for numbers too.
Ideas for bubble letters
- Cute display names. One bubble word plus a heart works well. For more soft styles, see preppy fonts.
- Mix sizes. Pair a bubble name with a line of small text underneath for a neat, layered bio.
- Party invites and greetings. Bubble letters suit kids' birthday messages and family group chats.
- Story highlight covers. Short square or bubble labels like "TRIPS" or "FOOD" fit small highlight titles. Our guide to Instagram highlight fonts shows how to match them with icons.
- Gaming headers. Black bubbles and squares look bold and blocky. Browse more ideas on cool fonts.
- Add symbols. Stars, hearts and flowers from the symbols collection sit nicely beside round letters.
Boxes, emoji and screen readers
White bubbles show on almost every phone. Black bubbles and squares are newer, so an older phone or computer may show empty boxes instead. If a letter turns into a coloured emoji, that is the phone's choice, not a mistake in the text. Each style carries a compatibility badge to help you choose.
For screen reader users, bubble text can be long-winded: each letter may be read as "circled Latin capital letter B" or similar, so a ten-letter name becomes a long string of words. Use bubbles for one word or a short label, and keep your real name in plain text somewhere in your profile.
Frequently asked questions
Can I print these bubble letters for a poster?
You can paste them into a document and enlarge them, but they are letters inside circles, not puffy drawn outlines. For classic poster bubble letters, use a design app with a bubble font file, or draw them by hand.
Why does black bubble text only have capitals?
Unicode only includes black circled capital letters. When you type lowercase, the generator uses the matching capital instead.
Why do some square letters turn into emoji?
A few black squared letters, such as A, B, O and P, are also emoji. Many phones show them as colourful tiles, so they may not match the rest of your word.
Do bubble letters work on Instagram?
Usually, yes, in your name, bio, captions and comments. They do not work in usernames, which only allow letters, numbers, periods and underscores. See Instagram fonts for more on each field.
Are bubble letters allowed in game names?
It depends on the game, and rules change. Some games accept circled letters and others reject them. Test before paying for a name change, and try the stylish name generator for names with a length check.
How do I copy a single bubble letter?
Tap any letter or number in the bubble alphabet chart below the tool to copy just that one character.
