BGMI name length and rules
A BGMI name is currently about 14 characters long. Every symbol, space and decoration counts. Some fancy letters, such as 𝗔 or 𝓐, may count as two characters each, while small caps like ꜱɴɪᴘᴇʀ usually count as one. That is why the length filter in the tool counts the strict way.
Names also have to be free (nobody else using them) and pass the game's word filter. If BGMI refuses a name, it is usually for one of four reasons: it is too long, it is taken, it contains a blocked word, or it contains a character the game doesn't support.
How to change your name in BGMI
- Get a Rename Card (see below).
- Open your Inventory and find the card among your items.
- Tap the card, then tap Use.
- Paste your new name into the box and look at how it displays.
- Confirm.
Rename Cards have usually come from the in-game shop, where they are often listed at around 180 UC, and from some missions, level rewards and events. Players also report waiting periods between name changes, and these have varied over time. Prices, rewards and cooldowns can all change with updates, so check the shop and the rename screen before you plan around them.
A rename card is gone once you use it. Paste the name, check for boxes or question marks, and only confirm when it looks right.

Clan name ideas and crew tags
Clan names have their own, shorter limit (reports vary, so check the clan screen before you decide). Keep the clan name plain or lightly styled so new players can read it, and let members carry the style in their own names instead.
